З 1991 по 2018 році працював на різних посадах від аспіранта і молодшого наукового співробітника до головного наукового співробітника і завідувача відділу Ради по вивченню продуктивних сил України НАН України (1991-2010), після реорганізації наукової установи – з 2011 по 2018 р. в ДУ «Інститут економіки природокористування та сталого розвитку НАН України», а також сумісником в ЗВО України та Польщі, зокрема, з 2016 року – в НаУКМА, з 2018 року – в штаті НаУКМА: професор кафедри екології Факультету природничих наук, з 2023 року – Декан факультету.

● З 1994 по 2025 роки є постійним учасником міжнародних науково-експертних та громадських проектів, які фінансувалися Міжнародним фондом «Відродження», USAID, European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), Урядами Швеції, Великої Британії, Німеччини тощо.
